This Privacy Policy explains how geeksubnet.com ("we", "the site") collects, uses and protects information when you visit. We aim to keep this clear and short.

1. Data Controller

The data controller for personal information collected through this site is Emiliano, the operator of geeksubnet.com. For privacy-related questions you can contact us by email at the address shown on the site.

2. What We Collect

geeksubnet is a client-side calculator: all subnet computations happen in your browser. We do not have a backend and we do not store IP addresses you type into the calculator on any server. The data we do collect is limited to:

• Local browser storage: your tweak preferences (theme, density, effects), the last 8 IPv4 calculations recalled in the History sidebar, and your quiz score. These never leave your device. You can clear them at any time via your browser's storage settings.
• Cookies and identifiers set by Google AdSense, our advertising partner. See the Cookie Policy for the full list and purpose.
• Standard server access logs handled by our hosting provider (IONOS), including IP address, user agent, timestamp and requested resources, retained for security and abuse prevention purposes.

3. Purposes and Legal Basis

We process the data above for the following purposes:

• To provide the service — without basic technical data the site cannot function. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and contractual necessity.
• To display advertising via Google AdSense, including potentially personalized ads. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), collected via the consent banner before any non-essential cookie is set.
• To prevent abuse and maintain security. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for profiling outside of what Google's advertising system performs based on your consent.

4. Third Parties

The following third parties may process your data when you visit geeksubnet:

• Google Ireland Limited — for Google AdSense advertising and consent management. Google's privacy policy.
• Google Fonts — for the JetBrains Mono / Space Grotesk web fonts. Your IP address is briefly visible to Google when fonts are loaded.
• IONOS SE — our hosting provider. IONOS privacy policy.

5. International Transfers

Some third parties (Google) may transfer data outside the European Economic Area. These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and additional safeguards as described in their respective privacy policies.

6. Retention

Browser-local data is kept until you clear it manually. Server logs are retained for up to 12 months. Advertising cookies follow Google's own retention rules, typically 13–24 months.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and equivalent laws (UK GDPR, Swiss FADP) you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you
• request correction or deletion
• restrict or object to processing
• request portability of data you provided to us

• lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in Italy: Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali, www.gpdp.it)

8. Children

geeksubnet is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes are announced through a banner on the site.
